Distinctive Rug Cleaning can wrap your rug to protect for long term storage and safe shipping, moving or transporation using a professional grade protective wrap like Tyveck. 

Tyveck is a woven synthetic fabric that provides a breatheable, moisture barrier.  It is tear-resistant which provides protection if moving and it also keeps rodents and bugs out.  Wrapping your rug will keep it clean and free from dirt, dust and insects.

When is rug wrapping recommended?

• Long term storage
• Moving or relocation
• Shipping to another state
• Remodeling projects
• Protecting rugs between seasonal use.

Plastic is not recommended for long term use because it can trap humidity.  Fibers, especially natural fibers like wool, naturally contain moisture.  If the temperature changes, trapped moisture could cause condensation which can create problems for rugs like mildew, a musty odor or dry rot. 

Brown acid free paper like Kraft paper allows your rug to breathe and could be used, but is not as durable or tear proof as our professional Tyveck wrap.

We will take a photo of the rug and tape it to the outside of the wrapping along with the rug size and client name and date packaged.

For rugs 5 feet wide or less, the cost is $37.50.  For rugs over 5 feet wide, the cost is $7.50/linear foot.
