How to Transport a Rug – Rolling or Folding

Rugs can be rolled and some rugs can be folded for transportation.   You can save money with our cash and carry option when you drop off and pick up your rugs from our facility for cleaning.

After evenly rolling a rug up, tie a rope, twine, bunjee cord or strap around it to make it easier to carry.  Avoid using tape because it can be challenging to remove.  If the rug is large or heavy ask a second person to help you carry it to prevent injury.

Depending on how big your rug is, is may fit inside your vehicle but if the rug is larger, you may need to lay seats down or borrow a friends truck or van.

To prevent damage it is best to roll tufted rugs and machine made rugs because of the way they are constructed.  But if your rug is hand woven you may be able to fold it.  If you aren’t sure how your rug is constructed, click here to learn the difference.  Watch our video below to learn how to fold a rug.
