Distinctive can remove the toughest odors caused by Pets, Pet Urine or Smoke from rugs that are woven.  Tufted rugs or Bound carpet cannot be subjected to the same process because the glued on backing can delamainate.   There are other methods that can be used for tufted rugs but odor removal cannot be guaranteed.  Find out if your rug is woven or tufted here. 

Depending on the rug and the severity, odor is removed from rugs by: 

• Presoaking in deodorizer and solution that will break down urine salts
• Soaking in wash tub with sanitizer
• Full Immersion Washing (sometimes performing the entire wash process multiple times)  Explore the wash process here.
